Afghanistan’s are used to harsher winter temperatures as they feel good at net practice. The first T20 International match between India and Afghanistan on 11th January at PCA stadium Mohali, Punjab. But the main problem is the weather conditions as in Punjab , the foggy mornings and evenings are major issues these days.
The Punjab cricket association (PCA) management is ready to tackle dew on the pitch. Head curator Rakesh Kumar said: “PCA has been hosting domestic matches in the winter but they are held during the day. Thankfully, the fog has lessened in the last two-three days. As far as dew is concerned, we will be using Aspa chemical on the ground from today to keep the dew away. It is a wetting agent and has been successfully used in the past.”
The cold wave could be a bigger problem for the Indian players, as the temperature is around 5-6 degree Celsius with heavy dew and it is a major issue for both sides. Not to forget, foggy conditions for the game to played under floodlights from 7pm. And it will be the first time that PCA is hosting T20 international under floodlights in the winter. But in the past they have been hosting Tests and domestic matches successfully under the lights. The Northen region of the country is under a cold wave spell with heavy foggy conditions which affected the normal life. fans must be brave to seated in open under such conditions.
The second T20 will be played in Indore on January 14, 2024 and the last game in Bengaluru on January 17, 2024. PCA last hosted Afghanistan for practice match ahead of the 2016 T20 WC. A team with world class spinners they may have to bank more on seamers in these conditions. Same is also applied on Indian team also. Dew would make it difficult for bowlers as to grip the ball properly.
In the winter PCA Mohali pitch usually aids for fast bowlers with the moisture in the air. Rakesh also said,” As far as og is concerned, it is not in our control. But we have stopped irrigation (watering) process in the ground so that during the match there is no excess moisture on the ground,”. The Ranji trophy match played draw which is hosted in Chandigarh Sector16 stadium nearby to Mohali. The game was affected by bad lighting conditions. Usually, in peak winter in January, northern venues like Delhi, Mohali and Dharamsala don’t host night matches.
Rohit Sharma, and local lad Shubman Gill will be the players to watch, but Virat kohli will not play the match India-Afghanistan T20 and this news and the cold wave could prove a spoilsport for the fans.Microsoft Start Sports (msn.com)
This stadium hasted a semi final match in the 2011 ODI WC but did not get any game in the just ended world cup 2023. Jay Shah, BCCI secretary, was thus keen to give India games to Mohali and Indore, which also missed out on a World Cup game. However, it seems not much planning went into allotting the game considering the weather. The PCA recently renovated the Mohali stadium while construction of its second international stadium in Mullanpur is on in full swing. Rakesh added,” A team of 11 groundsmen are working hard to make the game India-Afghanistan T20 a success”.
As the news comes out on 10th january about the Kohli playing, all the fans looks down as their favorite player not a member of team India in the first match.
No doubt, Indian cricket team smashed every hurdle with full confidence and great enthusiasm but now the journey will become difficult. Only two steps far from the grand prize, Indians dreams will come true, and every Indians have feelings related with the team, more expectations on the squad lead more pressure of audience.

The India world cup squad 2023 is as uneder:
India not just wins the India world cup matches and aren’t merely beating opponents at this World Cup. They are pulverizing them, batting better, bowling better and fielding better than anybody who has dared to cross their path. Their last two victories, against South Africa and Sri Lanka, have been by 243 runs and 302 runs, margins so emphatic that to call them contests would seem disingenuous. Virat Kohli is equaling records you once thought were immortal. Rohit Sharma is batting and leading as if he can do no wrong. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are world class. Mohammed Siraj makes vital breakthroughs. Ravindra Jadeja is paying tribute to the late Bishan Singh Bedi by conjuring deliveries to right-handers that land on middle stump and hit off. Kuldeep Yadav, India’s highest wicket-taker in ODIs this year and capable of bowling rippers like the one to Jos Buttler a week ago, has been barely needed in the last two games.

No doubt Ned every times give shocks to opponents but this time they face a full form on fire team India. This time India world cup squad is the most dangerous team.
India will win this match with a great average.

They are doing all this in an understated manner that makes them likeable too – a trait hard to attain when you are winning all the time.
In the age of social media, consumed by the search for instant gratification and the tendency to offer definitive verdicts, it’s of little surprise that India’s current run is immediately inviting lofty parallels by experts and fans alike. Are they among the best one-day teams India have ever had? Can they be as ruthless as the Australians who won without losing a game in 2003 and 2007?
The present bunch has all the makings of a great team, but grand pronouncements, if at all necessary, are best delivered at the end of a World Cup. The players will prefer it that way, for they know their standing will pivot on how they fare in the week following the final game of the preliminary phase against Netherlands on November 12.
Rohit says “When things look good, everything looks good, everything works well. I know how this whole thing works. I’m quite aware of one game here and there, I know suddenly I’ll be a bad captain,” Sharma said before the game against Sri Lanka, fully aware that reactions can swing depending on results.
Success in elite sport, whether right or wrong, eventually boils down to titles. Which is why the feats of Kapil Dev’s team at the 1983 World Cup have left an indelible impression. It had a lot more going for it of course. It was the classic underdog story, an ostensibly ragtag bunch turning up for the event with little hope of doing anything substantial. That they should beat West Indies in the final in a proverbial David vs Goliath contest to win the tournament is material ripe for biopics and books as we know now.
Over the years, India world cup numerous tales — some true and some apocryphal — have been narrated to illustrate how expectations were at a bare minimum going into the World Cup. Some of that was influenced by India’s record in the first two World Cups in 1975 and 1979, winning just one of six matches – against East Africa. But there was probably always more to the team winning in 1983 than mere happenstance. There has to be to win six of the eight matches in the tournament. Aside from Kapil’s genius, it was perhaps the mix of all-rounders that allowed for batting depth till No. 10 and six bowling options. That Roger Binny, Mohinder Amarnath and Madan Lal were seam-bowling all-rounders particularly helped in English conditions.
The rising stature of the team was underscored two years later when India, led by Sunil Gavaskar, won the World Championship of Cricket in Australia. The core was still around with Gavaskar, Kapil, Lal and Amarnath, and the emergence of Ravi Shastri, Mohammad Azharuddin and Laxman Sivaramakrishnan helped infuse further zeal as India went undefeated. From Kapil to Shastri, many of that vintage have said this was the best Indian one-day team they played in.
An exception to gauging greatness based on silverware maybe Sourav Ganguly’s team at the 2003 World Cup. They fell way short in the final at Johannesburg, but up against them was an indomitable Australian outfit that could seamlessly cope even with the absence of talisman Shane Warne. The circumstances were also different, and for an Indian team to beat everyone barring Australia in South Africa was a tall deed meriting unqualified praise. While Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid were the senior statesmen, a throbbing vibrancy was provided by the young bunch of Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra.
If these teams were lauded for their adaptability away from home, the challenge for MS Dhoni’s men in 2011 was to live up to the enormous expectations at home. This was a team studded with stars from top to bottom, and anything less than a final flourish at Wankhede Stadium on April 2 would have been viewed as a letdown. Therein lied that team’s greatness, epitomised best by the uber-cool temperament of the leader on the evening of the final.
No Indian team has been able to replicate such a high at a World Cup since. It’s not to say that the teams in 2015 and 2019 weren’t up to scratch. In Australia and New Zealand eight years ago, India enjoyed a similar unbeaten streak till running into a rampant Australia in the semi-final. Four years ago in England, some excellent cricket for a majority of the tournament was undone by a poor display of the top order against New Zealand in the semi-final.
It goes to show that there’s just a fine margin between good and great teams. One that the current Indian set-up will hope to bridge come November 19.
India will take on arch-rival Pakistan in their opening game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. After the first match on October 23 India will play runner up of Group A on October 27. Today the super Saturday on October 14,2023 India smashed Pakistan and make a easy win. India’s impressive show in this 2023 World Cup, and their domination over Pakistan in World Cups, continues. It was a jam-packed stadium in Ahmedabad today with over 100000 spectators in attendance. They were certainly too much for Pakistan who once again crumbled on this occasion as they have time and again. So that’s all from us here. The flurry of one-sided contests in this tournament seems unstoppable.
When talk about India smashed Pakistan today Robin Uthappa went on to say that India checked all the boxes in their win against Pakistan. This was India’s third straight win in the 2023 World Cup and their eighth against Pakistan in the history of the competition. Many information is taken from cricbuzz.
“Shreyas Iyer batted well, Virat Kohli as well. Just all the boxes ticked and a convincing win, which takes India to a very formidable position in the points table right now which is good for India,” Uthappa added.
The Run rate: Speaking about India’s net run-rate, Uthappa said picking up points is more important that having a good net run-rate in tournaments like the World Cup. This win propelled India to the top of the World Cup 2023 points table, overtaking New Zealand due to a superior net run-rate of +1.821.
Pakistan lost 8 wickets between 152 to 191.”Ideally you would want to get to the back-end of the tournament just based on the points total itself. So stacking up the points is more important than net run-rate. The way Rohit played it showed that India has also got the net run-rate covered in this game. We covered the net run-rate and also gave the players the opportunity to get some match practice,” said Uthappa. He also said “yes! India smashed Pakistan.”
Following their win against Pakistan, India will turn its attention towards Bangladesh, with the two sides set to clash at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on October 19.

In the word’s of Rohit Sharma the Indian captain: The bowlers were the ones today as well who set the game up for us. I don’t think it was a 190 pitch. At one stage we were looking at 280. The way they showed grit says a lot. That is something we pride ourselves in. Whoever gets the ball does the job. We’ve got 6 individuals who can do the job with the ball. My job as a captain is important there as well. It’s to read the conditions and figure out who’s the right guy to do the job. It’s only because the guys – before entering the WC – they got a lot of runs. We were very clear what we wanted to do. Didn’t want to be in two minds about who’s going to bat where.
