Ranked 2 Aryna Sabalenka kept her title defense on track by blasting American 4th seeded Coco Gauff with 7-6 (7/2), 6-4 and closed the way for Gauff to Rod Laver Arena.
On the other side Zheng, stormed into a debut championship match with a stirring 6-4, 6-4 victory over Ukrainian qualifier Dayana Yastremska.
The 21-year-old became the first Chinese finalist in Melbourne since her idol Li Na won the title in 2014. Her fabulous victory with 6-4, 6-4 shocked everyone as she dominates over her opponent from the very first second of the match and never made mistakes as Yastremska.
Sabalenka said “I was able to focus on myself,” she also added, “I was prepared that she was going to move well and put all the balls back and I was just ready for anything. She’s a great player and I enjoy playing her,” she said. “I really hope that in the future we are going to play many more finals.”
